Welcome to this week’s meeting of the eClub of the State of Jefferson.
I am Bob Gibson, President of the Rotary eClub of State of Jefferson. Welcome to this week’s meeting. I hope this finds you well.
It is so interesting to talk with Rotarians from traditional clubs. As many of you have moved to our Club from traditional clubs, I’m sure you can relate to this. The question I am often asked is; “How can you have a successful club, if you don’t meet face-to-face?” I’ve given this a lot of thought. I came across The Object of Rotary. It is one of the guiding principles of our organization. There are four elements to The Object of Rotary that deal with different aspects of Service. I will discuss them over the next four weeks.
The first element – “The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service.” Our membership includes Rotarians with a wide variety of interests, backgrounds, and knowledge. When we have an opportunity to become acquainted and interact, ideas for projects and services are generated. This occurs at our Zoom Board meetings and our Zoom membership meetings. I believe these meetings allow us to make real progress in our service projects. Although it is a different kind of interaction, when compared to the traditional club meetings, I believe it is effective. I believe the strength of our Club will be realized as more members take advantage of the opportunities to attend these membership meetings.
Thank you for your interest in our Club and your commitment to “Service above Self.”
Enjoy the meeting.
