Welcome to this week’s meeting of the eClub of the State of Jefferson.
I am Bob Gibson, President of the Rotary eClub of State of Jefferson. Welcome to this week’s meeting. I hope this finds you well.
It is a humbling to consider that this is the last meeting of this Rotary year. We have done work in many areas:
- In collaboration with other Rotary Clubs, we helped provide solar lights and a bookmobile for the Navajo Nation,
- We provided a funds for a satellite dish that enables members of the Navajo Nation to connect to the internet (in conjunction with the bookmobile),
- We reviewed and made modifications to our Club By-Laws,
- We appointed and elected a full Board of Directors for our Club Foundation,
- We have an organized financial report for our Club Foundation,
- We elected a slate of officers for our Club Board of Directors that will provide continuing leadership,
- We have a budget and organized financial report for our Rotary Club,
- We have weekly programs that are available to access “on your own time” and are exceptional in their quality and content, and
- We have an updated website that serves as the digital foundation of our Club.
These projects and tasks don’t just happen by themselves. They are the result of the work and commitment of many members of our Club. I have leaned heavily on Mitch Allen (V.P.), Jean Hamilton (Secretary), Carol Ruggeri (Treasurer), and Bruce Garrett (Program Chair) for advice, ideas, and feedback. Their guidance has been essential. Kevin Martin has kept our website and digital environment in good working order. The Directors on our Club Board (John Cox, Lucinda Kolo, and Geoff James have provided input from their respective points-of view. Carol Fellows brought her knowledge and Rotary background to the task of reviewing and modifying our By-Laws. Club members Dr. Lucinda Kolo and Dan Smith traveled to Africa and Ukraine, respectively, on Rotary service trips. Jackie Oakley kept our Foundation finances in order and provided us with solid reports. Finally, I am very grateful to Greg Brown, DeVere Wolsey, and Obaid Rehman for agreeing to be on our Club Foundation Board. Our Club is home to many committed Rotarians. You have my infinite gratitude for all the passionate work you do on behalf of our Club. Thank you.
By now, you have received the invoice for your annual dues. Each of you is a valued member and plays an important role in our Club. Thank you for responding promptly and taking care of this payment.
Next week we start a new Rotary year. The opportunities for service are endless.
Thank you for your interest in our Club and your commitment to “Service above Self.”
Enjoy the meeting.
