Welcome to this week’s meeting of the eClub of the State of Jefferson.
I am Bob Gibson, President of the Rotary eClub of State of Jefferson. Welcome to this week’s meeting. I hope this finds you well.
Last week I commented on the first part of The Object of Rotary, i.e., “The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service.” This week I’m going to tackle the second element of The Object of Rotary; “High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society.”
Of course, much can be said about ethics and values in our careers and professions. I believe this is no less important in our work in Rotary. As leaders in our organizations and communities, I believe we have a responsibility to set an example. Our Rotary service projects arise from a defined need or problem. Even when we disagree on the approach, our discussions and debate are from positions of respect. By working together, we accomplish a great deal. I believe the knowledge and experience each of us bring to the table, from our various occupations and backgrounds, allows us to craft meaningful solutions to many challenges.
Mark your calendar. We have a Club Board meeting on Thursday, April 20 at 8:00am PDT. A link to the Zoom meeting and an agenda will be sent out.
Thank you for your interest in our Club and your commitment to “Service above Self.”
Enjoy the meeting.
