Welcome to this week’s meeting of the eClub of the State of Jefferson.
I am Bob Gibson, President of the Rotary eClub of State of Jefferson. Welcome to this week’s meeting. I hope this finds you well.
November is Rotary Foundation month. The Rotary Foundation (TRF) is so important to the work we do as Rotarians. Many of you have personal experience as members of a Rotary project team. That experience must be so rewarding.
Rotary projects utilize the comprehensive planning and organization prescribed by the Foundation. The breadth and scope of rotary membership provides a vast reservoir of knowledge and experience. We utilize this resource to overcome the challenges and issues that arise with all projects. When projects receive final approval, they have been vetted and analyzed to strengthen the chances of success. Building in sustainability as a major component of our projects provides long-term viability to our investment.
I believe there is a common thread that exists in every project funded by TRF. Whether it is a water well in Nigeria, a literacy project in Guatemala, a solar light project in the Navajo Nation, a wheelchair project in Africa, or hospital equipment in the Solomon Islands. All these projects inspire hope. The specific needs are important. And they will come and go. The value of hope is incalculable.
Our Club has a strong history of supporting TRF. Please consider being a Sustaining Member with a contribution of at least $100. The Rotary Foundation is given the very highest rating accorded to charities. The result of thoughtful management and a strong tradition of volunteerism results in 91% of contributions going to actual projects. Administrative and overhead costs are closely managed. Your contributions create hope where it is needed most.
Your Board of Directors reviewed and discussed the proposed changes to our By-Laws. Rotarians Carol Fellows and PDG John Cox have worked on developing this proposal. I am attaching a copy to this message. It will be a subject of discussion at our Zoom Membership Meeting on Saturday, November 12 at 9:00 am Pacific Time. If you have questions or comments on the proposed By-Laws, this will be a great time to bring them forward.
