In 1803, Congress allocated $2,324 for an expedition. Thomas Jefferson commissioned the Corps of Discovery and named Army Captain Meriwether Lewis its leader, who then invited William Clark to co-lead the expedition with him.
The plan was to paddle canoes up the Missouri River, carry the canoes across a bit of land, hop on the Columbia River, and paddle down to the Pacific Ocean. Easy, heck they might even be able to give some money back to Congress.
Imagine, paddling upstream for weeks, coming around a bend and there are - the Rocky Mountains. You have just entered uncharted territory, “the world in front of you is nothing like the world behind you.”
Every institution, church or organization, especially those over a hundred years old, are faced with the same question – what do you do when you’re entering uncharted territory? That’s why you see such a scramble throughout Rotary.

Last Saturday we had a combined Board meeting with both the current and incoming Board. It was great! We discussed a ton of things. Agreed, disagreed, and began exploring some ideas for the future of this club. One thing we all agreed on was that we need more engagement (see the results of the poll - below).
Being an eClub, we have some extraordinary advantage that Terra clubs just don’t have. So over the next couple of weeks let’s explore some of the options together. How we can build on our strengths and navigate this uncharted territory.
