The Guatemalan Army reported that this morning they evacuated residents of the Agua Alegre village, Chiantla, Huehuetenango who were affected by the floods. According to information from residents, the heavy rains began on Friday, Saturday for most of the day, and it still rains this Sunday in the northern area of Huehuetenango. In Aguacatán, the number of people affected by the overflow of the San Juan and Blanco River increased, which took houses, most of them are onion and garlic producers, also, they lost tomatoes and corn that were washed away. Access is limited and the magnitude of the damage has not yet been evaluated and the river is expected to lower its course during the week.

They evacuated and provided assistance to families from the Nueva Primavera and Villa Linda Yula San Juan communities, affected by the Iota natural phenomenon.
These communities were evacuated as they are at high risk due to the formation of cracks in the hills. Our staff already coordinates actions to provide food assistance to affected families.
A few moments ago, these photographs were taken of the road between Soloma and San Juan Ixcoy, as can be seen, there is still no passage, and they are not even working to repair the road.You can even see that a few meters from where the road is cut, there is another similar collapse.Take this into account if you were planning to travel. Conditions are worsening by the hour here. This village is being evacuated (people leaving on foot, leaving everything behind). One of our schoolteachers lives here. On the other side of the river and up a steep mountain, Isabel and her family live. The bridge is about to go out, water is splashing over it. She is with me right now, but obviously can't go home. I am preparing a report on the completion of her schooling along with these conditions.
Another section of road on the road to Huehuetenango has collapsed. No hope of getting supplies up here. Rain continues.
